Process

-Each page of my book started out as individual sketch pages so I could figure out the layout of the final product.
-From the sketches, I was able to redraw the images on to butcher paper which were scaled to the size of the fabric I would have in the book.
-Then I cut the images on the butcher paper with an exacto knife to turn the images into stencils so I could screen print them onto the fabric.
-After using fabric dye mixed with extender to print the images onto the fabric, I allowed the ink to dry and then I heat set the fabric and rinsed the chemicals out.
-After the rinsed fabric dried, I was able to embroider, sew and manipulate the images as I pleased.
~After all the pages were completed~
- I sewed all the pages to batting
-I then sewed the border fabric (I dyed the fabric to match the front and back cover of the book)
-Finally I sewed all the pages together and bound my book.

Reflection

After doing my project for a year, I have discovered that I am very self motivated and have an affinity for making to do list and organizing my projects by importance. I feel that if I were to do another year long project I would have to make sure that it will keep my attention more than this project did. I say this because four months into doing it, my patience began to run short, but I knew I had to complete it so I did. However I question if I did not have a deadline would I have thrown my book to the side to focus on other projects I wanted to complete. I believe that this experience has shown me that I am responsible and a hard worker, but that I also do better professionally and personally without the petty opinions of those around me about where my work is going based on others taking a casual glance at their leisure.
